Sustainability Strategy

Among the initiatives for which Entel stands out in the ranking is the new 2024-2030 Sustainability Strategy, which focuses on three strategic transformations that consider: inclusiveness, sustainability and responsibility.

Since Entel began its journey in the field of sustainability, the company has promoted initiatives such as the Tour Reutiliza x Chile (in English “Re-use 4 Chile Tour”), which in partnership with Kyklos, travels through the different cities of the country collecting computers, tablets and cell phones, and that only in 2023 contributed to the circular economy through the reuse of more than 23 tons of electronic waste. In addition, the initiative made it possible to donate more than 1,000 refurbished computers to schools in vulnerable contexts.

In addition, in the context of the forthcoming gradual switch-off of the 2G network announced by Entel, in alliance with Midas, the free replacement program for devices that are compatible only with this technology has already benefited almost 3,000 elderly people in rural areas.

As for urban mining, in partnership with Midas, Entel contributes to transforming unused devices into recycled raw material. This was the use given to the almost 9 tons of devices collected in Rapa Nui, which the technology and telecommunications company brought to the continent.

In addition to this, Entel is the only South American telecommunications company in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, in the DJSI Chile and DJSI MILA Pacific Alliance categories, where it maintained its position for the eighth consecutive year by increasing its performance in 15 of the 25 criteria evaluated. And recently, Entel was positioned as the Latin American leader in its category in Standard & Poor’s Global’s prestigious sustainability yearbook, “The Sustainability Yearbook 2024”..
