Analysis considered the performance of 9,400 companies in the environmental, social, economic and corporate governance dimensions.

Entel was positioned as the Latin American leader in its category in Standard & Poor’s Global Sustainability Yearbook 2024, where it obtained 76 points out of 100 in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment 2023 (CSA). On this occasion, more than 9,400 companies from 62 different industries were evaluated, and only 759 were considered worldwide.


The result of the national company considers an increase of 3 points in relation to the previous year’s records, which reflects the impact of the work plans that Entel has been implementing in this area.


“We are very proud to represent the country in this report. It not only validates our company’s sustainability strategy, but also all the actions we are strongly promoting at Entel, to raise the standards in our industry. Being in this select group invites us to be even more responsible in this area and to advance in the incorporation of best practices and standards at an international level”, said Entel’s Sustainability and Communications Manager, Francisca Florenzano.


Sustainability at Entel


The company began its journey in this area in 2005, which among various milestones includes the issuance in 2021 of the first international sustainable bond of the industry in Chile, for US$800 million, with the aim of financing infrastructure and essential services linked to digital inclusion and innovation in the local market.


This year it launched its new Sustainability Strategy 2024-2030 whose focuses are three strategic transformations that consider:


  • Inclusiveness: promoting an agile, innovative and diverse organization, which contributes to closing gaps and strengthening the digital development of communities and companies..

  • Sustainability: encouraging circularity and the reduction of the carbon footprint in its operations and supply chain.

  • Responsibility: aiming to develop and foster relationships with stakeholders based on trust and security.

Entel’s most recent recognitions include being the only South American telecommunications company in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in the DJSI Chile and DJSI MILA Pacific Alliance categories, where it remained for the eighth consecutive year by increasing its performance in 15 of the 25 criteria evaluated.


Methodology


This yearbook is based on S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2023 score and considers companies that have achieved outstanding performance in their management in this area and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) practices. To be included in the yearbook, companies must score in the top 15% of their industry and achieve a CSA score that reaches 30% of the score of the best performing execution in their sector.
