76 senior runners have already signed up to run in the 70 and over category

• Today ends the second phase of sign-ups for the event, which will be held next April 8, 2018.

After almost two months of open registrations for the Entel Maratón de Santiago, the first period to be part of this competition concluded, completing a total of 15,188 registered runners, who will test their endurance next April 8, in the distances of 10K, 21K and 42K.

The surprise of the process was given by the seniors, who almost doubled the number registered in the same period of 2016. If last year there were 35 registered in the category Males 70 years and over, this 2017 65 signed up, while the women of that segment who already secured their quota are 11.

“This shows that our seniors are becoming more and more active, that they like sports and are motivated to participate in outdoor activities. They are an example to follow, and it fills us with pride that they are part of the biggest Sports Festival in Chile,” said Francisca Aguirre, Executive Director of the Entel Maratón de Santiago. “Just as senior runners are responding to the eMDS invitation, we also want this 2018 to have more marathoners registered, so we urge them to dare and take the leap from their usual distance to run the 42 kilometers,” she added.

Just as the Entel Maratón de Santiago wanted to reward the senior runners who participated in the 2017 version by giving them free registration, it is now promoting the “Pégate un salto” campaign (in English “Take a leap”), offering on its website Maratondesantiago.com and Facebook fanpage (@maratondesantiago) a training plan to prepare physically and thus next April 8 run the mother of distances: the 42 kilometers 195 meters.

“We are very happy to be part once again of the Entel Maratón de Santiago, the most important running festival in Chile. We are also very happy to know that this year we will have more seniors registered for the race, which shows that this event is an opportunity for all people in Chile, regardless of their age, to connect with sport and healthy living,” said Rodrigo Solar, Entel’s Marketing Manager.

Tomorrow begins the second registration period, which will be open until January 15, 2018 and includes a 10% discount for Entel customers, in addition to a 50% discount if paid with Entel Visa card until December 31.
