25th edition of the traditional fireworks show:

• For 17 minutes, Santiago will be lit up with the traditional fireworks show, marking the beginning of the new year in the capital.

• 16.5 tons of fireworks will be fired, which will reach almost 400 meters in height.

• It is estimated that some 400 thousand people will attend the celebration, which has been held for a quarter of a century and will include a performance by Sonora Malecón.

The 2017 New Year’s celebration at the Entel Tower has everything ready. Approximately 400 thousand people are expected to arrive on December 31 to witness the largest fireworks display in the Metropolitan Region, and the one with the largest number of fireworks per square meter in Santiago, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Thus, all those who come to the New Year’s Eve party at the Entel Tower will have the chance to enjoy a music and dance show for free, starting at 9:00 p.m., in addition to experiencing the most unforgettable moment of the night, when the pyrotechnic show to welcome 2017 begins.

[

“The turn of the year is always a milestone, an opportunity to start anew, full of energy together with family and friends. The show that Entel has prepared seeks just that: to start the year in the best way possible, connecting people with their loved ones, friends and the city. We are waiting for everyone to celebrate together the arrival of 2017 and to celebrate the 25th anniversary of our city festival”,said Rodrigo Solar, Entel’s Corporate Marketing Manager.

[

Meanwhile, the mayor of the Metropolitan Region, Claudio Orrego, said: “The Entel Tower Festival has become a tradition and an attraction of Santiago, and we invite citizens to enjoy it with awareness and self-care. Since October of last year we have had a new regulation that sets out a series of strict requirements for massive events, but no measure is 100% effective if people do not act responsibly”..

[

“We are very proud that our municipality is the home of this spectacular show. We know that it is an instance that the people of Santiago value and enjoy with their families. But as well as we celebrate, we also call on the attendees to take care of the city and to collaborate in its cleanliness. As a municipality we have prepared a reinforced plan this year, so that the Alameda is again clean and in optimal conditions between 9 am and 12 noon on January 1”, said Felipe Alessandri, Mayor of Santiago.

As for last year’s artistic show, the stage will be erected in the central alley of the Alameda and Dieciocho Street. Prior to the fireworks, the event will be hosted by Francisco Saavedra and Macarena Venegas, while Sonora Malecón will make everyone dance with a show specially prepared for the occasion.

Starting at midnight and for 17 minutes, 16.5 tons of fireworks will be launched, reaching a height of almost 400 meters, which will allow them to be seen from different parts of Santiago.

Recommendations

For a safe and optimal realization of the event, there will be the support of Carabineros and a security quadrant that limits to the north with Agustinas, to the south with Tarapacá, to the west with Tucapel Jiménez/Dieciocho and to the east with Morandé/Zenteno. Cars will be kept out of this quadrant. That is why the recommendation to attendees is to prefer public transportation to get to the vicinity of the Entel Tower.

A good alternative is to use the Metro. On Saturday, December 31, train service will be extended on Line 1 until 2:00 a.m. on January 1.

On Saturday, December 31, due to the Entel event, the La Moneda station on Line 1 will close at 5:00 p.m., and the access to Los Héroes station on Line 2 will also be closed after that time.

Regarding ticket offices, as of December 31 there will be a reinforcement of ticket booths from noon onwards. República, Los Héroes (Line 1), Universidad de Chile and Santa Lucía stations will have special service until 2:00 am.

For the rest of the stations of Line 1, the closing of ticket offices is scheduled for 23:00 hours, so users should have their Bip! cards loaded in advance or they can do it at the self-service machines available.

It is also recommended that families stay together at all times, especially to prevent children from getting lost. As support, there will be two stands, one located on Alameda and Ejército (central alley) and the other on Arturo Prat and Alameda streets, where 10 thousand wristbands will be distributed to the children attending the event. The names and contact numbers of the parents can be written on them, in case a child gets lost. The stands set up to hand out the wristbands will also serve as a meeting point.

We also call on people to take care of the city, and after the fireworks at the Entel Tower, to take their garbage with them and leave everything clean. Also after the show we call on people to clear the Alameda as soon as possible, so that the cleaning work can be done so that the main avenue of Santiago can be reopened.
