The initiative, which brings together Entel and the municipality of Villarrica, aims to promote respect for the environment and raise awareness of the damage caused by the indiscriminate use of plastic bags.

A project that hopes to contribute to reducing the use of plastic bags and, at the same time, promote a more sustainable way of life in the Araucanía region, has brought together the Municipality of Villarrica and Entel, to deliver 50 thousand bags free of charge during the summer in three cities, where, in addition to Villarrica, there will be Iquique and Valdivia.

The “Reusable Bags” project aims to encourage people to use these bags and raise awareness of the damage that can be caused by the accumulation of plastic in the environment.

“This collaboration agreement allows us to continue to generate awareness about the real damage that plastic bags cause to the planet, we all want to take care of the environment in our Villarrica and feel part of an initiative like this. We will continue to work to minimize the use of plastic bags and to achieve this goal, joint efforts between the Municipality of Villarrica and private companies are necessary,” , said Mayor Pablo Astete.

Meanwhile, Katherine Martorell, Director of Sustainability and Communities of Entel, explained, “This project is part of the company’s sustainability strategy, especially in contributing to the care of the environment. During the summer of 2017, we will distribute thousands of reusable bags for free in Villarrica, but we will also do it in Iquique and Valdivia, because our desire is to connect Chileans with the care of the environment and join public-private efforts to achieve it.”
