• The Minister of Sernam, Claudia Pascual, and the Manager of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs of Entel, Manuel Araya, launched the training process for women heads of households “Mujeres ON”, which aims to develop business skills, promote entrepreneurship, improve business networks and digital literacy of 100 women from 40 municipalities of the Metropolitan Region.

In a joint initiative between the National Women’s Service and Entel, the “Mujeres ON” project was launched today, in which 100 women selected from SERNAM’s “Mujeres Jefas de Hogar” program will be able to develop their business skills through workshops that will strengthen their entrepreneurship and provide them with tools to improve their business networks.

Minister Claudia Pascual emphasized that “access to and permanence in quality paid jobs outside the home has been a constant challenge for women in Chile. As Sernam, we are working to empower women to achieve the economic autonomy that will allow them to enter the labor market and contribute their skills and abilities to the country’s development”.

[

Manuel Araya, Entel’s Manager of Regulation and Corporate Affairs, commented: “This project represents an opportunity for these entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into a large and consolidated project. We hope that these micro-entrepreneurs will become familiar with digital tools, which they will then use to connect with their commercial networks. We hope that this project will give them the support and backing they need to make their businesses contribute to a better country”.

The project foresees that the participants will begin training courses on June 7, which will last until September, when they will already have the necessary knowledge to create a community, contact networks and finally promote their commercialization.

[

Finally, the Secretary of State said: “I would like to highlight the public-private alliance of this initiative and the joint efforts so that more women can build networks and take advantage of the multiple opportunities offered by technology. The fact that they will be able to overcome and face the fears stemming from a lack of digital skills will undoubtedly open up new opportunities for them to create and develop successful business ideas”.

The 100 women selected have businesses in areas as diverse as gastronomy, goldsmithing, accessories, toys, cosmetics and handicrafts, among others.
