• Less than a month before Chile’s biggest sporting event, the Entel Marathon Santiago organization, together with adidas, presented this year’s official T-shirt through an artistic intervention at the Entel Tower.

The best kept secret of the Entel Marathon of Santiago 2016 has finally been revealed. As has become tradition, the release of the official 2016 T-shirt took place with an urban intervention at the Entel Tower, where a 14 meter high and 9 meter wide mural was installed, designed by national artist Payo Söchting, who has been creating urban art installations in Chile and abroad for more than 10 years, in cities such as New York, Poznan (Poland) and Kibera (Kenya).

The mural, sponsored by 3M, depicts the figure of a runner wearing the eMDS2016 T-shirt as he crosses the finish line, cheered on by the crowd. The design is inspired by the efforts of the thousands of athletes who, year after year, bring this important national sporting event to life.

This year, the Entel Marathon of Santiago 2016 T-shirt is red and features ClimaLite technology to wick away sweat and keep athletes dry during the race. In addition, all seams are on the outside of the shirt, which minimizes rubbing against the skin and prevents irritation from contact during the race.

“There are only 24 days left until the Entel Marathon of Santiago 2016 and we know that all the runners have been waiting to see the color of this year’s T-shirt. It is a color that fills us with pride because it represents our country, so we are eager to see the streets of Santiago dressed in red next April 3,” said Francisca Aguirre, Executive Director of eMDS.

“This launch marks the beginning of Santiago’s most important sporting event. Today is the start of the marathon, so we wanted to use the Entel Tower as the first milestone in the countdown to the event, where we hope to gather not only the runners, but also their friends and families, who are also part of this celebration of the city,” said Carlos Rodriguez, Innovation Manager at Entel.

“As adidas, we are proud to have contributed to the spread of the running phenomenon in the country over the last nine years. To see thousands of people training for this big celebration, and to see the streets of Santiago change from grey to the color of the T-shirt for a few hours, makes us very happy and we look forward to feeling the unique energy that the 28 thousand runners trying to break their own records give us once a year,” said Frederick Serrant, General Manager of adidas Chile.

The kit will be distributed to the 28,000 athletes who register between 31 March and 2 April at Expo Running, where all runners will be able to collect their bibs and kits. As in 2014 and 2015, the men’s and women’s 42K T-shirts will be sleeveless.
