This morning, the first regional version of Mujeres ON, a training program for entrepreneurs, promoted by Entel and the Servicio Nacional de la Mujer y la Equidad de Género (SernamEG), which will benefit more than 50 women in the Coquimbo Region, was opened at the Museo Histórico Gabriel González Videla in La Serena.
The event was attended by the Minister of Women and Gender Equity, Claudia Pascual, who kicked off this initiative to strengthen women’s economic autonomy.
The first version of this program, held in the Metropolitan Region in 2016, trained 108 women entrepreneurs, while this year another 62 women from Santiago are undergoing training. All the entrepreneurs will learn new tools and techniques for selling their products, in addition to making better use of available technologies to expand and publicize their businesses, which include handicrafts, food and clothing, among others.
“Mujeres ON represents an opportunity for women entrepreneurs in the Coquimbo region to turn their ideas into a consolidated project. We hope they become familiar with digital tools, through which they will then connect better with their commercial networks and have better opportunities. We want this initiative to give them the necessary support so that their businesses can contribute to building a better country,”, said Katherine Martorell, Entel’s Director of Sustainability and Communities.
In the case of Coquimbo, between June and December, ten workshops are planned for the entrepreneurs, which will be focused on strengthening the commercialization process of their products through innovation tools, digital marketing, associativity and business management.
Claudia Pascual, Minister of Women and Gender Equality, said that “all these initiatives are not isolated efforts, but are part of a public policy focused on fighting inequalities, which in our country are not only economic. In Chile there are also inequalities between men and women, because we do not have the same career paths or targets. Therefore, we have to generate equality”.
“My business is called “Alfajores Artesanales Alicia” and it seeks to bring back the sweetness of the south and the affection of the north through pastries. As a disabled person, the Mujeres ON program is a great opportunity for inclusion for me, as well as a new chance to get ahead and receive digital support for my business”, said Alicia Castro, an entrepreneur from the region.
