• The free exhibition “Santiago desde el Aire” (in English “Santiago from the Air”), presented by Entel and the Corporación Patrimonio Cultural de Chile, opened today at the metro station in the Quinta Normal municipality, showing various photos of the city taken from the heights.

• The exhibition includes a selection of 32 images, the work of renowned photographer Guy Wenborne and Marcos Mendizábal, a specialist in medium-altitude shots.

With the aim of promoting access to culture and connecting people with art in the public space, the photographic exhibition “Santiago desde el Aire” was opened today at the Quinta Normal Metro station.

The exhibition includes a selection of 32 images of the capital taken from the heights by the renowned photographer Guy Wenborne, who has more than 20 years of experience in aerial photography, and who also worked with Marcos Mendizábal, a specialist in medium-altitude shots.

The initiative, supported by Entel through the Cultural Donations Act and the management of Corporación Patrimonio Cultural de Chile, seeks to surprise visitors with a different view of the city, which allows them to dimension its structure and extension, and at the same time discover, from an unknown angle, spaces, neighborhoods and buildings that are urban landmarks of Santiago.

‘This exhibition is in line with the work we have been doing in Metro in recent years, to offer our users much more than a means of transportation: access to culture, art, literature, and thereby contribute and add value to their travel experience’ , said Metro’s Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Manager, María Irene Soto.

An average of 18,000 people pass through Quinta Normal station every day, and during the month around 470,000 passengers. In other words, during the two months that the exhibition will be on display, nearly one million people will enjoy the gallery. With this, this station becomes a window for art in the city, being also the access point to the cultural pole of this neighborhood, which includes, among other spaces, the Matucana 100 Cultural Center, the Library of Santiago and the Museo de la Memoria.

[

“Santiago desde el Aire is an invitation to discover our city from a hitherto unknown perspective. Observing from above allows us, Entel and everyone who lives in Santiago, to have a different view of how the city behaves and moves. Looking differently and from another point of view is the basis of innovation, a spirit that we constantly promote as a company,”, said Antonio Büchi, general manager of Entel.

[

“For us it is a great satisfaction to be able to have this exhibition available to so many people who travel around Santiago every day on the Metro, thanks to this alliance between public and private institutions. To reach the users with a high-level cultural product that will generate in them a link and an appreciation of their own city’, said Roberto Fuenzalida, Executive Director of the Corporación Patrimonio Cultural de Chile (Chilean Cultural Heritage Corporation).
