• The 30,000 runners who will be part of the country’s most important running event will take to the streets wearing a blue T-shirt with yellow details. The garment, which changes color for each marathon, was presented with a magic show at the foot of the Entel Tower.


The wait is over. As has become tradition, today took place the presentation of the official T-shirt of the Entel Maratón de Santiago 2018, which this year will be blue with yellow details. There are 30,000 runners who will compete with this shirt next April 8 in the morning. For the fifth consecutive year, the T-shirt for men and women who will run the 42K is sleeveless, unlike the T-shirt for the 21K and 10K categories, which have short sleeves.


The official garment of the 2018 competition, which was presented at the foot of the Entel Tower with a magic show by Magic One (ex Magic Twins), maintains the tradition of changing color every year. While in 2017 the shirt was aqua green, in 2016 it was red and in 2015, fluor green. In 2014 it was also blue, but then with orange details.

“The launch of the Marathon T-shirt marks the beginning of the most important sports festival in Chile. There is no other event that brings together so many athletes, as well as spes who take to the streets to cheer them on. We invite everyone to join in this celebration,” said Alexis Licci, Entel’s Marketing Manager.

Francisca Aguirre, Executive Director of the Entel Maratón de Santiago, announced that “in this twelfth version of the eMDS the streets will be dyed blue and we want this sea of runners to have the best experience. Among the novelties, 21K will have a wave start, since only that distance contemplates 13 thousand runners, and we will highlight our marathoners, who are the heroes of the 42K, with a special medal and thermal blankets after crossing the finish lline”.

He also clarified that: “The eMDS circuits are measured and certified by a representative of the IAAF, something like the FIFA of athletics, and, on the day of the event, we will have the arbitration and sponsorship of the Metropolitan Regional Athletic Association, which will certify the marks obtained by the athletes”.

Meanwhile, the Intendant of the Metropolitan Region, Karla Rubilar, said: “This is a civic celebration, a transversal celebration that invites us to celebrate in the city. On April 8 we will have 30 thousand people running through our streets. And we are working so that the impact on the city is the least possible. We want this event to be perfect so that we feel proud of Santiago and of the great events that take place here”.


The blue T-shirt for the 12th version of the Entel Maratón de Santiago features ClimaLite technology, which helps eliminate sweat and allows athletes to stay dry while running. In addition, all seams are on the outer side of the shirt, which minimizes rubbing against the skin and avoids contact irritation during the race.


Runners will be able to pick up their race kit, which includes a T-shirt, runner’s number and a chip, between April 5 and 7 at the “Expo Running” to be held at Estación Mapocho.
