• Anwar Farrán, journalist of Mega, was the great winner of the eighth edition of the Sustainable Journalism Award (PESU), organized by Entel and Università Cattolica di Milano, which seeks to recognize journalistic works that contribute to the construction of a more sustainable society.

In order to recognize the best journalistic works that address sustainability issues, Entel and Università Cattolica di Milano presented this morning the Sustainable Journalism Award (PESU), whose eighth version highlighted the best works in the categories of written press, television and radio.

From among the winners in each category, the jury chose the great winner of the 2016 PESU award, which went to Anwar Farrán, journalist of Mega, thanks to his report “Chiloé Inquieto”.

The jury highlighted that the report addressed sustainability from a social, economic and environmental dimension, with an original and integrating point of view, a great script and a remarkable technical level, in addition to a respectful treatment of the subject.

The main prize includes a trip to Italy for a one-week internship at Università Cattolica di Milano during 2017.

Meanwhile, in the written press-report category, there was a tie between Daniela Pérez for “La lucha del abejorro nativo” (in English “The struggle of the native bumblebee”) by Revista Viernes of La Segunda newspaper, and Consuelo Terra, from Revista Paula, with “Las sorprendentes mariposas chilenas” (in English “The surprising Chilean butterflies”).

In written press, the winner was Paloma Díaz, from Revista del Campo, with “El modelo ecológico de producción animal en la Sexta Región (in English “The ecological model of animal production in the Sixth Region”); in TV-chronicle, Loreto Schaffeld, from Canal 13, with “Economía Circular (in English “Circular Economy”); in TV-report, Anwar Farrán, with “Chiloé Inquieto (in English “Restless Chiloé”); and in radio, Sylvia Córdova, from ADN radio, with “Informe Lazarillo” (in English “Lazarillo Report”).

PESU aims to recognize those who, through their journalistic work, contribute to the construction of a more harmonious and inclusive society, and also highlight initiatives linked to sustainability.

“In PESU we want to recognize the contribution of journalists and media to the creation of a more sustainable world. The role they play in publicizing relevant and innovative points of view and valuable initiatives in such broad areas of sustainability as technology, innovation, the environment and social issues, among many others, is fundamental for the community,”, said Manuel Araya, Entel’s Manager of Regulation and Corporate Affairs.
