With the attendance of more than 400 entrepreneurs, last night was held the tenth version of the Gira Entel Empresas in Santiago, an event that each year tours the main cities of the country presenting the latest trends in technology for business and how to apply them effectively.
On this occasion, the speaker was the communicator and former collaborator of Pixar and The Simpsons, Matthew Luhn, who spoke about the importance of storytelling in building better brands and the application of Big Data and other technologies in this process, giving as an example his work in the development of various films and television series.
Luhn highlighted his experience as a consultant in different companies such as Adidas, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft, among others, where he trained their executives in the storytelling technique to build solid and lasting brands, as well as great businesses, based on good communication.
Along with his consulting work with large companies, Luhn is also dedicated to giving talks and seminars around the world on the application of storytelling in the business world, both at the product and organizational level.
He came to Chile with his presentation “Art of Storytelling”, where he talked about the importance of creating compelling scripts for products and the use of storytelling in building better brands, with the objective of improving communication and making companies grow.
“People remember a good story, and good storytelling makes you feel something. My job is to impact them and in the end I make a connection with people. You need to have a good hook in your story, as you only have eight seconds to have people’s attention. You have to make them feel something with your story, to have a connection with you, since the best companies are the ones that make personal connections with their audience” ,said Luhn.
At the same time, the expert highlighted the importance of the application of Big Data in the construction of storytelling, giving as an example the use he made of it in his more than 25 years of experience creating characters and scripts for The Simpsons and Pixar, where he participated in more than 10 films such as Toy Story 3 and Finding Nemo, along with explaining its potential application in the creation of stories for business.
Regarding this, Luhn assured that in the process “you have to make sure that the stories connect with the group you are talking to, you have to know your audience. For this reason, it is important to collect their data, know their tastes, what they think, to speak in their language and connect with them”.
