• The project brings together Entel and the Municipality of Rancagua and seeks to encourage care for the environment and raise awareness about the effects of the indiscriminate use of plastic bags.

A project that hopes to contribute to the care of the environment and promote a more sustainable way of life in the O’Higgins Region, has brought together the Municipality of Rancagua and Entel, whose representatives signed a collaboration agreement to distribute for free about 15 thousand reusable bags.

Temuco and Puerto Montt will also join the initiative in 2017, which aims to encourage people to use reusable bags and raise awareness of the damage that their use can cause to the environment.

“We are very pleased to implement this initiative that will bring such good environmental returns to our city. We would like to thank Entel for its efforts and for allowing us to be part of this project”, said Mayor Eduardo Soto.

The mayor joined the head of Entel’s Sustainability and Communities area, Manuel Peña, who explained: “This project is part of the company’s sustainability strategy, especially in relation to environmental care”.

During the summer of 2017, approximately 80 thousand reusable bags will be distributed in the cities of Temuco, Rancagua and Puerto Montt, as well as Valdivia, Villarrica and Iquique.

[

“Our desire is to connect Chileans with the care of the environment and to be part of the public-private efforts to achieve this”, Peña specified.

Thousands of reusable bags will be distributed in various activities organized by the municipalities and in activities that Entel will carry out during the summer season and also during the rest of the year.

This project began during the first half of 2016, when more than 50 thousand bags were distributed in the cities of La Serena, Coquimbo and Puerto Varas.
