The Regional Ministerial Secretariat of Transport and Telecommunications of Aysén, the Organization of Consumers and Users of Chile, ODECU, and Entel, held yesterday in Coyhaique the workshop “Technology and the Leadership Role”, which consisted of showing neighborhood and social leaders of the region the main advantages of mobile devices for the social and labor development of their communities.
They were also trained with a series of leadership tools to help them play their role more efficiently with the people with whom they interact.
The meeting was divided into three modules. The first was given by ODECU and consisted of training the leaders of the invited communities with information on their rights and duties as consumers. The second course consisted of digital literacy in social networks, such as Twitter, Facebook and Whatsapp, for the management and relationship of their communities. The third module, given by Entel, provided the attendees with information on connectivity, answering various questions on infrastructure and technology.
The new Intendant of the Aysén Region, Karina Acevedo, was present at the activity and welcomed the initiative. “The government of President Bachelet seeks to provide tools for social leaders to file an important leadership in the territory. First, because access to technology is a question of inclusion and, secondly, of participation, so they can collaborate and put into practice the urgent transformations that our country requires. In short, if citizens are empowered and are capable of expressing their opinions, debating, participating, dialoguing and communicating, the objectives are achieved, and that is the purpose of these training sessions”, he said.
“At Entel we have a great commitment with the communities and their sustainable development. We are proud to approach and support the country’s neighborhood leaders so that they can strengthen their community work. We hope that this workshop will be a great step in this direction”, said Katherine Martorell, Entel’s Director of Sustainability and Communities.
Alejandro Pujá, Coordinator of ODECU, said: “We are very pleased to be able to come to Coyhaique and disseminate the rights and duties of consumers and users, as we know that in regions it is more complicated to exercise them effectively. For the same reason, by knowing the consumer law and the technological mechanisms of communication, better conditions are created for a more balanced relationship between suppliers and customers”.
This type of initiative has been carried out in other regions of the country, such as Antofagasta, Bío Bío, La Araucanía and Magallanes.
