Helping in the reinforcement of communication channels between the police, the community and the municipality is the objective of the agreement signed this Tuesday by the Municipality of Valdivia and Entel. The initiative is focused on the campaign “Valdivia te cuido Conectado” (in English “Valdivia, I look after you, Connected”) which seeks to improve communication between the police, the municipality and the different social organizations linked to the issue of security in the capital of the Region of Los Ríos.
This public-private initiative includes the delivery to the Municipality of Valdivia of 20 high-end mobile phones of the Chilean brand Öwn, exclusively marketed by Entel and large stores, which will be used to strengthen the communication channels between the different actors involved in public safety in the municipality.
The idea is to use new technologies in the fight against crime and in preventive actions by neighbors, the municipality and the police.
“Entel is aware of the importance that social networks and technology have in people’s lives. Therefore, it is essential for us to provide tools to the municipality, the community and institutions that ensure the safety of citizens, so that they can communicate efficiently in case of need,” said Katherine Martorell, Entel’s Director of Sustainability and Communities.
Omar Sabat, Mayor of Valdivia, commented that “as an administration, we have reinforced our work in the area of Public Safety in recent years, directly linking our neighbors with the municipality and the police. In this case, a large part of the devices will be delivered to police personnel of the Cuadrante Plan of the municipality, in order to contribute with better tools for their work”.
