Today was held the graduation ceremony of “Mujeres On Coquimbo” (in English “Women On Coquimbo”), the first regional version of the “Mujeres On” program, which arises from a public-private partnership between the National Service for Women and Gender Equity and Entel.
The initiative was born last year in the Metropolitan Region and its objective is to enhance the commercialization of the enterprises of different women heads of household through improving their knowledge of digital promotion tools and the use of social networks, and also to improve commercial improvements in their businesses with a focus on handmade products.
The program, held for the first time in the Coquimbo Region, was attended by more than 50 women entrepreneurs from La Serena and Coquimbo. During more than 8 months of work, these women received training focused on increasing the sale of their products and making better use of technology to expand and publicize their businesses.
Laura Echeverría, national director of SernamEG, commented: “We seek to work with private enterprise to generate the conditions for cultural change and thus achieve the economic, physical and political autonomy of women. From the economic point of view, we seek to transform the world of paid work to make it more welcoming for women. It is in this context that this joint work with Entel was born, especially today, when the technological revolution has produced important changes in our lives, opening up new spaces that can be conquered”.
Patricia Muñoz, Entel’s Director of Sustainability and Communities, said that “this project was born two years ago as an alliance between Entel and Sernameg, to promote the economic development of women heads of household in the Metropolitan Region. We wanted to bring it to the regions and the experience in Coquimbo is the first at regional level and we hope to be able to repeat it”.
