With the aim of facilitating internet access to homes located in areas with low penetration or that do not have other alternatives in terms of supply or quality, Entel continues to advance in the deployment of its fixed wireless broadband service for the home, in conjunction with a digital literacy campaign.
The mayor of La Pintana, Claudia Pizarro, and the housing minister of the Metropolitan Region, Giancarlo Baltolu, together with the telecommunications company, gave a talk to the residents of the San Ricardo community in that commune, with the aim of educating regarding the uses and benefits of the Internet.
This is the second activity carried out by the mayoress with the company, since in 2018 was the launch of a high-speed internet service, wireless fixed home internet, which seeks to improve the internet accesses and quality of the internet of the neighbors of the commune, who today have 16% of fixed connections.
“Today, as a commune, we have many barriers to be able to have quality services. Recently this condition was made visible with the arrival of the first fast food chain, which shows the neglect we have experienced. That is why it is so important today to be here with Entel, reinforcing internet access for our neighbors and educating about how fundamental it is to be connected, because it is not only to be able to watch Netflix, which we do not have today, it is to allow our seniors to do paperwork, tutorials, that our children learn and do their homework, and that their mothers can undertake. It is a basic right that we urgently need to democratize", commented Mayor Claudia Pizarro.
Manuel Araya, Entel’s manager of regulation and corporate affairs, emphasized that “the deployment of our Fixed Wireless Broadband service will allow us to serve thousands of homes, which today have difficulties in accessing this technology, and democratize the offer in the commune, with a service of the best quality in the country”..
To access the home internet service, the main requirement is to verify that the home has feasibility of access to the network that is currently being deployed.
However, as it is a totally wireless alternative, it is not necessary to carry out the wiring of the fixed internet services or to receive the visit of technicians for its implementation, since it is only required to have an electrical connection and the user can make the installation directly.
