With the aim of facilitating internet access to homes located in areas with low penetration or that do not have other alternatives in terms of supply or quality, Entel announced that it continues to advance in the deployment of its fixed wireless broadband service for the home, in conjunction with a digital literacy campaign.
Previously, the company launched the service in the communes of Renca, La Pintana and Alto Hospicio, and in the Municipal Hall of La Calera, with a large audience, it took a new step with the presentation of the service in La Calera.
The activity was attended by the Mayor of La Calera, Trinidad Rojo Augusto, the Seremi of Transport and Telecommunications, Gerard Oliger, and the Director of Public Affairs and Institutional Relations of Entel, Claudio Anabalón, together with neighborhood leaders and other local authorities.
The project will allow reaching a universe of almost three million homes by 2021 with a high-speed connection and benefiting sectors that today cannot enjoy the benefits of technology.
For the Mayoress, Trinidad Rojo Augusto, this type of tool will allow leaders to bring technology closer to their community “there is a degree of complicity between private and public companies where there is a degree of attention for the commune of La Calera, especially for the figures that are handled, and it will give a degree of opportunity to the people of our commune. We must give importance to connectivity, technology and what it means for the work of the leaders, because they are the ones who carry the voice in the commune of La Calera”.
It is important to have spaces that allow to reduce the digital gap and give opportunities to all the people to be entertained, informed, educated through technology as the seremi of Telecommunications said “It is important to have this kind of instances to inform how to reduce digital gaps, we thank the mayoress for the idea of hosting this event and the private company for spreading the importance of connectivity, which is a priority for the government of President Sebastián Piñera”.
Entel indicated that in order to access the home internet service, the main requirement is to verify that the home has feasibility of access to the network that is currently being deployed. However, as it is a totally wireless alternative, it is not necessary to carry out the wiring of the fixed internet services or the visit of technicians for its implementation; it is only necessary to have an electrical connection and the user can install it directly.
