Seventh version of the urban art festival will be digital:

From February 8 to 28, people will be able to carry the Hecho en Casa (in English Homemade) Entel festival in their pocket through the event’s app, available for IOS and Android, and relive the different works virtually through augmented reality.

Thanks to this innovation, the public will be able to interact with the famed “Pato de Hule (“Rubber Duck“), in addition to the “Huevos Fritos (“Fried Eggs”), “¡Caracoles! (“Snails!") and the “Llama Andina” ("Andean Llama"), and thus take entertaining photos and videos, while maintaining the distancing measures.

Since its beginnings, in 2012, the Hecho en Casa Entel Festival has been presented as an invitation to experience art in the city and a gift for citizens, who each year can walk a circuit of works installed in public space, interacting with the urban environment.

However, this year is a little different. Due to the sanitary contingency and in continuing with this initiative, between February 8 and 28, people will have the chance to enjoy the seventh version of this festival, which will be held virtually, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to call to respect the isolation measures of the authorities.

To be part of Hecho en Casa Entel 2021, anyone can download the “Hecho en Casa” application (available for iOS and Android systems) and interact through augmented reality with different interventions that in previous editions of the festival filled with life and colors the cities where they were presented.

Thanks to this innovative proposal, everyone will be able to play, interact and enjoy the works, such as “Pato de Hule" (“Rubber Duck”), “Huevos Fritos” (“Fried Eggs”), “¡Caracoles!” (“Snails”) and “Llama Andina” (“Andean Llama”), and take amusing photos and videos together with these iconic urban interventions.

“The festival has positioned itself as a must-see that everyone looks forward to year after year and we love it. This time, the call is to take care and be able to interact with the works through augmented reality, from their homes, since we know that it is not yet time for massive activities that may put people’s health at risk”, said the Communications Manager, Fernando Rivas.

[

“In 2019 we were unable to hold the festival due to the citizen situation we were experiencing. 2020 was a year marked by the uncertainty of the health pandemic, but we were thinking about how to bring joy and color to the city in this complex health scenario. This is how we came up with the idea of holding this new version of the Festival Hecho en Casa Entel virtually and once again provide a cultural and entertaining space for the citizens”, said Payo Söchting, the artistic director of Colectivo Bla! -the creative studio behind the organization of the Festival Hecho en Casa Entel.

In this way, thanks to technology, the festival can be enjoyed equally throughout the country, giving this gift to all citizens, not only those in Santiago. In any case, although the festival has an end date, this does not mean that the “Hecho en Casa” application cannot be used during the rest of the year and continue to share more and more creative photos and videos with the works.

[

“Every year we challenge ourselves even more to keep surprising. The application can be used nationwide, so as to bring the festival to the different corners of the country. We hope to see the social networks full of fun photos and we hope that people get involved in this version of the festival, and we invite you to play with creativity!”, said Felipe Zegers, creative director of Colectivo Bla!.

The last initiative of Hecho en Casa Entel consisted of a citizen survey, where people could choose their favorite design to be the next mural that surrounds the Entel Tower. The chosen work was by national artist La Loica, and after weeks of work it is finished, revitalizing the center of Santiago -specifically, the Plaza de las Telecomunicaciones, located below the Entel Tower- with native fauna and lively colors, astonishing those who pass through the place.
