A local artist will have the opportunity to be part of the “Hecho en Casa Fest Entel 2017” Festival (in English “Home made Fest Entel”), which will take place between September and October, thanks to the “Ideas Torre Entel” contest, which will give the winner the opportunity to intervene the emblematic building of the city with an installation, sculpture, covering or technique described in the rules of the contest.
The contest is open to individuals or groups of artists of legal age residing in Chile. The winning individual or group will join the long list of more than 50 artists from different countries who have participated in past editions of the festival.
The winner of the contest will have a budget of up to $20 million to execute their work, along with a prize of $3 million. In addition, the winner will have the opportunity to present his or her work at Hecho en Casa Fest Entel, an urban art festival that has attracted close to 3 million people in each of its four previous editions.
“Hecho en Casa Fest Entel” has stood out for its diverse works of urban art in Santiago, which range from large murals to large-scale interventions, such as the giant fried eggs falling from the sky by Dutchman Henk Hofstra, which in the 2016 version of the festival positioned Plaza Italia in media worldwide.
“This festival is an invitation to experience the city in a different way, where we are protagonists of the urban environment and for what we hope to receive the best and most creative ideas in the contest,” said Payo Söchting, artistic director of the festival.
Meanwhile, Antonio Büchi, CEO of Entel, commented: “The Entel Tower is an icon of Santiago and therefore, we invite artists to be inspired by it, to generate a work of art that invites people to connect with the city and culture”.
The winning project will be chosen by a jury composed of urban planner Pablo Allard, gallery owner Patricia Ready and journalist Rodrigo Guendelman, specialists in art and urbanism, who will present their choice in the first half of August.
Those who wish to participate in the contest may do so between June 15 and July 15, the rules and requirements can be found on the website of Hecho en Casa Fest Entel.
