For the second consecutive year, the Mujeres ON program will seek to strengthen the entrepreneurship of 62 women heads of household in the Metropolitan Region, and will work for the first time with 50 women from urban areas of the Coquimbo Region.
The 2017 version of this entrepreneurship program exclusively for women was born thanks to an unprecedented public-private partnership between the National Women’s Service (Sernameg) and Entel, and is executed by Emprediem. The launch was attended by the Minister of Women and Gender Equality, Claudia Pascual; the regional director of Sernameg, Claudia Opazo; the manager of Regulation and Corporate Affairs of Entel, Manuel Araya, and the CEO of Emprediem, Sebastián Rodríguez, in addition to dozens of women entrepreneurs who will participate in Mujeres ON this year.
In 2016, the program trained 108 women entrepreneurs from the Metropolitan Region, who were able to learn new tools and techniques for selling their products, and to make better use of available technologies to expand and publicize their businesses.
The Minister of Women and Gender Equality, Claudia Pascual, commented: “This is the second year of our partnership with Entel, which has given us very good results. Through Mujeres ON, which seeks to train women linked to the Mujeres Jefas de Hogar program in business skills, the use of technology and associativity, we want them to achieve the economic autonomy that will allow them to enter the labor market and contribute with their skills and abilities to the development of the country. A woman who is an entrepreneur is a woman who has more tools to assert her rights”.
“Mujeres ON represents an opportunity for these entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into a consolidated project. We hope that they will become familiar with digital tools, with which they will then be able to connect with their commercial networks. We want this project to give them the support they need to make their businesses a contribution to making this a better country and to connect them with their projects, so that they can generate new opportunities every day” , said Manuel Araya, Entel’s Manager of Regulation and Corporate Affairs.
This year, more than 100 new women will join Sernameg’s Heads of Household program, half of them from the Coquimbo region. This initiative seeks to foster the creation of a community of women entrepreneurs nationwide, empowering and training them to turn their entrepreneurship into real innovative businesses.
From June to September, Emprediem plans to hold 10 workshops for these entrepreneurs focused on strengthening the commercialization process through innovation tools, digital marketing, associativity and business management.
