With the idea of increasing and making conversations on social networks more attractive during the Viña 2017 Festival, Entel launched the first emoji for Twitter developed in Chile. This emoji can be used from today during the Festival Gala and will continue to be used until the end of the 58th version of this international festival.
Thus, every time someone posts a message on Twitter commenting with the hashtag #Viña2017 or #LaGala, the iconic seagull will automatically appear next to it, representing the maximum symbol and award that has historically delivered this event.
Entel is the first brand to create an emoji in Chile, which was developed with the support of Twitter, Omnicom and the organizers of the Viña Festival, allowing this advertising format to be used for the first time, which was developed entirely in the country.
Rodrigo Solar, Entel’s Marketing Manager, commented regarding the development of this emoji: “We want people to connect with the Viña Festival through social networks, so we put all our skills and experience in innovating with these new social communication tools, responding to international trends. Innovation is in the DNA of our company, so we strive to generate products and experiences that surprise and create new ways of interacting on the network”.
Emojis are icons used to complement text conversations in all kinds of virtual applications. In the case of Twitter, they have been used worldwide in various advertising campaigns, highlighting some companies such as Coca Cola (#ShareaCoke) or Starbucks in Canada (#RedCups), among others.
According to Carlos Cantú, Brand Strategy Leader for Latin America at Twitter, the use of Emoji is a wise move for brands and events, due to the high amount of conversation that will be generated around the campaign. Thanks to the alliance between Entel and Twitter, it is the users themselves who will bring the conversation to life. Users who today in their form of communication seek to illustrate their experiences, and what better opportunity than to be part of Viña del Mar.
