Only 10 months after launch:

The technology and telecommunications company is the first in the industry to reach this number. In addition, it has already completed 100% of the first stage of the deployment of the fifth generation technology and 63% of the total 5G connections in the country are made in Entel’s networks.

Just 10 months after the official launch of the 5G network in the country, Entel reaches its first million customers (1,005,328 as of October 11) provisioned with this technology and who have the possibility of enjoying its multiple benefits.

In December 2021, at the time of the launch of 5G, the technology and telecommunications company had deployed the service in 33 communities in the Metropolitan Region such as Renca, La Pintana, Providencia and Santiago. Today, 100% of its first stage of deployment is complete, and Entel has 5G coverage in 270 communes, from Arica to Puerto Williams.

The investment announced by Entel in 5G for the period 2021-2023 is US$350 million, and they expect to continue advancing with the second phase. “We are happy about this milestone, as it demonstrates people’s interest in accessing the latest technology. As a company we have made great efforts to fulfill the first stage of the project and bring the benefits of this technology closer to our customers. We will continue working to expand the coverage areas and deliver the best 5G experience to everyone”, explains Entel’s Vice President of the People Market, José Luis Poch.

With less than a year to go, the applications most used by users with 5G equipment are social networks and streaming. Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Netflix are the favorites.

According to the latest Subtel report (June), Entel leads 5G connections in Chile with 63% of the total nationwide. The difference in terms of the million enabled customers lies in those who use the network and those who have equipment compatible with this technology.

Another aspect that has attracted Entel’s attention is the speed with which it reached one million 5G users. With the 3G network, it took 57 months to reach this number and with 4G it took 19 months. “This confirms the interest shown by people to be more connected and reinforces our commitment to democratize technology and make it available to everyone”, emphasizes Poch.

On the other hand, the company offers 64 models that allow connection to 5G and four of them are among the 10 most purchased. The iPhone 13, Samsung A52s, Xiaomi Redmi 10 and Motorola G50 are the most popular among users, demonstrating that this technology is already compatible in various ranges of smartphones and that, of the total, they represent 55% of total sales.

It is worth remembering that the minimum latency, higher download speed and the possibility of working as an enabler of other technologies are some of the experiences that the one million Entel users who already have 5G terminals can live.

To connect to 5G, you need to have a phone compatible with this technology. All Entel customers, both prepaid and subscription can access this new network.
