Within the company’s contingency plan, in addition to the National Emergency Roaming and prioritizing restoration of operational services, the emergency solidarity plan was added, as well as measures to support customers with debt, and recommendations for those in the regions of Ñuble, BioBío and La Araucanía.

Due to the forest fires affecting the regions of Ñuble, Biobío and La Araucanía, Entel has implemented several measures to support the connectivity of people, institutions and support groups working in the field.

Due to the emergency, telecommunications are affected, in some cases by power outages or fires in the antennas connecting these regions. However, the company has taken measures to keep communications operative in the regions affected by the fire, in order to support the inhabitants, institutions and volunteers deployed in the affected territories:

  1. Entel reinforces its operational contingent and deploys more than 30 teams in the field to prioritize the quality of its services in the areas affected by fires.

  2. Implementation of national emergency roaming with other telecommunications companies.

  3. Reactivation of the solidarity plan, signed by the telecommunications companies that are part of ChileTelcos, to help those affected by the forest fires.

  4. The restoration of services suspended due to debt in the communes of the affected regions.

  5. To avoid service cut-off for customers with debt in a bill issued in January.

How to enroll in the Solidarity Plan if you are an Entel customer:

  • Enter the website: entel.cl/quedate-en-casa/FAQ-planSolidario and complete the form.

  • You can apply for the plan until March 31.

  • You will need to attach the Ficha Básica de Emergencia (FIBE) that has been prepared by the government.

What it offers:

  • The plan is free, one will be granted per customer, and will be valid for 90 days from its date of contracting.

  • Depending on the services currently contracted, you can request one of the following plans:

    • Fixed Internet: unlimited capacity, with speeds between 2 and 4 Mbps.

    • Mobile telephony with agreement: 50 SMS, 300 voice minutes, navigation without capacity limit and with speed between 256 and 512 kbps.

    • Mobile telephony without agreement (prepaid): 100 SMS, browsing speed between 256 and 512 kbps.

    • Fixed telephony: 300 voice minutes.

In addition, Entel provided recommendations for a better use of the network in areas with intermittent service:

  • Prefer the use of instant messaging or SMS. Other messaging applications, such as WhatsApp, require mobile data, so use them without videos or images. Only use voice calls as a last resort.

  • Reduce the number of devices you have connected to the network at the same time, trying to use only one device.

  • In case of emergency, and with no signal from your operator, mobile devices can connect to other networks for calls to 133.
