Collection of unused electronic devices

Entel and Kyklos benefited more than 10 thousand students with recovered devices, including cell phones, CPUs, notebooks and tablets. This year, 75% of the route will be done by an all-electric vehicle and of the 10 thousand devices to be collected, more than 7 thousand have already been collected. During September the truck will be in the communes of Renca, Vitacura, Colina, Santiago and Peñalolén, receiving unused devices to give them a second life.

After traveling more than 10,000 kilometers in the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Antofagasta, Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso and the central-southern part of the country, the new version of the Entel Reutiliza por Chile Tour arrives in September in 5 districts of the Metropolitan Region.

“The challenge this year is to exceed the target we set for 2022 and collect at least 10 thousand devices, in order to continue generating a real impact on our environment. In addition, in order to reduce the emissions associated with the campaign, we have extended the route of the 100% electric truck. Now, the invitation is for all people and institutions in the Metropolitan Region, who have unused devices, to join this campaign, supporting students who need it most and giving a second life to electronic devices”, explained Entel’s Director of Sustainability and Communications, Francisca Florenzano.

Entel and Kyklos are the drivers of this project, which has two main objectives: to promote circular economy through recycling or restoration of unused electronic devices, such as cell phones, CPUs, tablets and computers, and to invite people to contribute to digital inclusion through the donation of these devices that, after repairs, will be given to students in vulnerable contexts.

In this new edition, the campaign truck - enabled as a collection point - will visit 56 locations in the country, between Arica and Punta Arenas, and 75% of the total route will be done in an all-electric vehicle.

In its 2022 version, Reutiliza por Chile collected 30 tons of unused electronic devices, which made it possible to donate close to 1,000 reconditioned devices that benefited more than 10 thousand students in different regions of Chile.

The Entel Reutiliza por Chile campaign was recently awarded first place in the Circular Awards, in the Social Challenge category. This instance seeks to highlight projects focused on fostering social inclusion, having a collaborative approach, minimizing some environmental impact, ensuring permanence and development over time and promoting social innovation.
