In a new edition of the prestigious Merco Empresas 2024 corporate reputation ranking, Entel was recognized for the ninth consecutive year. The company was positioned in the Top 10 of the 100 companies with the best reputation in Chile and as a leader in the telecommunications industry.
The methodology of the study includes more than 55 thousand surveys conducted nationwide to multi-stakeholders, such as consumers, workers, managers, union and government representatives, consumer associations, analysts and academics.
For Entel's Sustainability and Communications Manager, Francisca Florenzano, these awards “are a reflection of the effort, dedication, commitment and work that we carry out at Entel every day. This year has been marked by important achievements and initiatives that we successfully carried out, such as the shutdown of the 2G network, which positioned us as pioneers in the sustainable shutdown of this technology worldwide; and the launch of our first call for the 55+ Fund, which culminated with more than 120 applications from organizations for the development of digital skills of people over 55 years old”.
In this line, the shutdown of Entel's 2G network began in the second half of 2024, and has been done gradually, paying special attention to those customers who were still using this technology, so that they could update their equipment. In addition, a special plan was defined to address the replacement of equipment, which was free of charge for those over 70 years of age in vulnerable segments, who had the opportunity to opt for equipment with similar characteristics, but with access to more modern networks.
Another problem that Entel has addressed this year is that people between 55 and 70 years old do not have programs to develop digital skills. In response to this, the company launched the 55+ Fund, which aims to promote this type of skills in people in this segment and reduce the digital divide. To this end, one or more of the 120 organizations that applied will have $300 million pesos to develop them.
In addition, in the context of its 60th anniversary, the technology and telecommunications company celebrated with a key message: “A future with history”, showing through a campaign technological milestones that have marked the company's trajectory. It also continued to connect Chileans, with the expansion of the 5G network in Antarctica and its citizen intervention in Iquique, Santiago and Concepción with the Interactive Portal.
Another of the milestones that marked the celebration of Entel's six decades was the 55th anniversary of the moon landing at the Longovilo station, which transmitted this historic event to the entire country. In addition, the launching of its commemorative website that makes a visual tour of the most relevant events of its 60 years.
Entel also stood out in other categories of Merco 2024, where the company won second place as the best communication team; and won fourth place in best reputation in the digital area.
“These results are a motivation to continue doing an excellent job for our customers, providing them with the best service and bringing the infinite possibilities that technology offers to people,”, added the executive.
The recognition awarded by Merco is in addition to other awards the company has received. From the customers' point of view, for the second consecutive year Entel was positioned as the organization most valued by people in the Chile 3D Brand Valuation Study in the industry. It also obtained the Customer Trust Index award and first place for customer loyalty in Home Internet and Mobile Telephony in the Alco awards. Finally, Cadem's Marcas Ciudadanas (Citizen Brands) positioned the telco as the undisputed leader in its industry, and it was recently awarded first place in the “Interconnection ODS” category in the CONECTA 2024 awards for its 2G switch-off initiative.
