Taking part in the Entel Maratón de Santiago will now be very simple, thanks to the launch of the “Entel Maratón Santiago” app for the 2018 version of the competition, which in addition to providing all the details about the race for each competitor, allows up to 10 runners to be followed in real time, while the main national running event takes place on April 8.
“We want everyone to be part of the most important sports festival in Chile, that is why we developed this app, so that, from the comfort of their mobile devices, everyone can follow and encourage their favorite runners, and so that competitors can have immediately available and online, the details of their race” , explained the Innovation Manager of Entel, Carlos Rodriguez.
Meanwhile, Francisca Aguirre, executive director of the Entel Maratón de Santiago, highlighted: “this application adds to the improvements that this year’s event presents and to our interest, as an organization, to add to the sports festival all citizens, not only those who run. Now it will be easier for their family and friends to encourage them along the way, as they will know at what kilometer or point of the circuit the runners are at”.
The app was developed by Tata Consultancy Services -TCS- the same company that created the applications used in the New York, London and Mumbai marathons, among others. It will be available for Android and iOS cell phones, and users will be able to find out how many kilometers per minute up to ten participants are running, as well as the estimated time of arrival at the finish line of the runners. Users will also be able to find out the weather forecasts for that day. In order to follow runners, it is only necessary to know their name, or to have their registration number.
In addition, people will be able to know who are the runners with the best times registered and once the competition is over they will have access to the first places of the 10k, 21k and 42k.
