The company entered the prestigious index thanks to its economic, social and environmental projects and initiatives.


Entel today became the first telecommunications company to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Chile (DJSI Chile), which evaluates companies listed in Santiago for the second consecutive year.

“We are very pleased to be the first company in the sector to be included in this prestigious index in Chile. For Entel, sustainability is an integral part of our business. Our economic, social and environmental performance is key to ensuring long-term value creation for the company, our employees, customers and the country” , said Antonio Büchi, Entel’s General Manager.

The DJSI Chile measured Entel in three areas: economic, social and environmental. In the first area, the company was recognized for its Code of Business Conduct and its Code of Ethics, as well as its corporate culture, which emphasizes customer care, transparency, the best infrastructure - in the network, stores, offices, etc. - and customer service. - and customer service support.


In the social area, the company was recognized for the various projects it carries out with communities, such as “Conectando Chile” (Connecting Chile), which brings connectivity to rural and isolated areas of the country; “Yo Leo Araucanía” (I Read Araucanía), which promotes reading in Mapudungún and Spanish through digital tools; and the Digital Library of Independencia, a project that seeks to reduce the digital divide through the free delivery of books via tablets.


In the environmental area, the company stood out for its sustainable waste management (from mobile phones to towers and antennas) and its efficient use of energy, as seen in its network of data centers, which operate to the highest energy and environmental standards.


The Dow Jones Sustainability Index is the world’s most respected index for investments focused on long-term sustainability, including the financial, automotive, consumer, services and energy sectors.
