For the sixth consecutive year, Entel is part of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in its DJSI Chile and DJSI MILA Pacific Alliance categories. This index recognizes the best companies at an international level for their sustainable performance in the economic, social and environmental spheres.
The technology and telecommunications company improved or maintained its score in 15 of the 24 criteria evaluated and reached the maximum in four of them: network reliability, occupational health and safety, environmental reporting and social reporting. This translated into a better score in the three dimensions measured by the index and an overall increase of five points compared to the 2020 measurement. Thus, with these results it ranked in the 81st percentile of the telecommunications industry worldwide, out of a total of 78 signings evaluated.
“Sustainability is a pillar that has been gaining more and more strength in Entel and this recognition is the reflection of constant work in this area. The results we obtain year after year in this index show us that we are on the right path and that, together with transforming and evolving as a company, we are doing so in a socially responsible manner”, said Entel’s Director of Sustainability, Jimena del Valle.
In this sense, she assured that “this is the result of a transversal effort in the different areas of the company and allows us to show concrete progress and identify opportunities for improvement, to continue progressing on this path of making Entel a more sustainable company every day”.
In addition to achieving the maximum score in the aforementioned dimensions, the company had significant growth that reflects the sustained work it has been doing, highlighting, for example, transparency in participation in public discussion. The results also highlighted the promotion of the digital agenda to manage innovation, which was key to respond more quickly to the new digital needs of customers in a context of pandemic.
Finally, the ongoing work in training and education of employees was reflected in the increase in the score in the human capital development category.
