Entel reported profits of Ch$41 billion during the third quarter of the year, which represents a substantial improvement over the losses of Ch$12 billion obtained in the same period of the previous year. On the other hand, revenues increased by 9.1% in twelve months, reaching Ch$673 billion, as reported by the telecommunications and technology company to the Financial Market Commission.
The growth recorded in the period was driven by a positive performance of the mobile and fixed segments in Chile, whose revenues grew by 9.3% and 12.4%, respectively, and an increase in equipment sales of 25.2%. Meanwhile, the Peruvian operation also contributed to the positive results in the period, favored by the exchange rate effect and the increase in revenues of 5.4% in equipment sales and 1.3% in mobile services.
As a result, the company's EBITDA reached $194 billion, 2.4% higher than in the same quarter of last year, and the EBITDA margin was 29%. The financial debt to EBITDA ratio, including IFRS 16, remained stable at 2.59x, in line with the company's commitment to maintain a healthy financial performance and to maintain its investment grade.
Thus, in the first nine months of the year, the company reported consolidated revenues of Ch$2,019 billion, an increase of 9.2% compared to the first nine months of the year, driven by equipment and fiber sales in Chile, as well as mobile services in Peru. EBITDA reached $582 billion, representing a 13% growth, and profits grew nearly fourfold to $64.8 billion.
“This was a good quarter because we continued to grow in revenues and profits, in addition to continuing to add postpaid subscribers, both in Chile and Peru. In the fiber business there is also a significant rate of growth. Once again, we see that strategic and financial discipline, together with a powerful value proposition, are paying off and allowing us to lead in Chile and be on a very good footing in Peru”, said Entel's vice-president of Corporate Finance, Marcelo Bermúdez.
Regarding the situation of the mobile market, Entel recorded a 6.5% growth in the total number of its postpaid mobile users in Chile in the last year, reaching 7.63 million customers. In Peru, postpaid users also increased by 6.8%, reaching 4.85 million users. Thus, Entel in Chile is in first place in terms of revenue share in the mobile business with 40.8%, while in Peru it is in second place with 24.3% at the end of the third quarter of 2024.
