Clocks go back one hour:

The technology and telecommunications company recommends keeping the automatic configuration of mobile devices and provides a series of tips to avoid confusion, depending on the operating system and geographic location.

This Saturday night, at 00:00 hours, the winter time will officially begin, so clocks will have to be set back one hour. Thus, at midnight, users of phones, tablets and computers throughout the country, except for the Magallanes Region, will see the time on their devices change.

Entel recommends keeping the automatic configuration that most mobile devices have by default. However, in some cases a manual change must be made in order to configure the time correctly, a process that is different depending on the operating system of the devices.

In the case of iPhone, users must go to their phone’s Settings and select the option General > Date and time > activate Set automatically.

On the other hand, in the case of devices with Android operating system, in the Settings or Configuration section they must select General Administration or Systems and Updates > Date and Time > Enable Set Automatically option.

It is important to note that this change will only be applied in Continental Chile, while the inhabitants of Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica will keep the “daylight saving time”. Therefore, users in this zone, who have their devices automatically configured, will see the time modified, so they should go to settings, select manual mode and keep the current time, i.e. press Time Zone UTC-03.

Regarding Western Insular Chile (Easter Island and Salas y Gómez Island), the change must be made at 22:00 local time to switch to the UTC-6 time zone. This means that when it is 22:00 hours on Saturday, April 2, the clocks should be set back and indicate 21:00 hours from that moment on.

Likewise, there are a series of tips to avoid misunderstandings when attending events, going to work or setting up meetings. It is recommended, for example, to avoid installing applications that promise to make this change automatically, especially if their origin is unknown. Another technique is to put the schedule in the body of the e-mail when setting meetings or appointments, in case the devices still keep a different schedule than the one that starts on Saturday.

To access detailed information on the new winter schedule, or if users still have doubts regarding the configuration of their devices, Entel has available the service channels of the technology and telecommunications company, such as Whatsapp or by calling 103. It is worth remembering that this line has an exclusive service for the elderly, for whom there is also a web page with answers to their main concerns: https://informacioncorporativa.entel.cl/personas-mayores.
