Following the approval by the National Economic Prosecutor's Office of the purchase of the fiber optic business from ON*NETFIBRA, Entel began mass commercial deployment of its fiber internet product in 160 communities across 13 regions of the country.
The company's deployment could provide connectivity to up to 4.3 million home passed (HP), covering 78% of urban households nationwide.
This initiative reinforces the work that Entel has been carrying out since 2018 with the deployment of 5,000 kilometers of fiber optic network. It is expected that, with this agreement, Entel will more than triple the number of homes passed by the end of 2024, which will have symmetrical internet and premier after-sales service recognized by the customers themselves, both in technical support and customer service.
"This agreement gives us new impetus to continue reaching more homes throughout Chile. This model will also allow us to expand this shared fiber coverage to many places that are difficult and costly to reach today. One of the main attributes that characterize Entel and for which we have been recognized is trust, delivering the best and widest range of services to our customers", said Matías del Campo, Entel's Vice President, People Market.
The entry price of the plans starts at $14,990 (for 6 months) for 500 Mbps symmetrical upload and download, while the "Giga" plan starts at $18,990 (for 6 months) and has a symmetrical speed of up to 940 Mbps upload and download.
"The Fiber of Chileans"
The strategy will be accompanied by a mass media campaign called "La fibra de los chilenos" (The Fiber of Chileans), which will feature, among others, relevant local figures like Sebastián Ugarte, Martina Weil and Mauricio Isla. The company will also sponsor the eight dates of the "Ven aquí" tour of the national band Los Bunkers, with a space specially designed to showcase the capabilities of the fiber internet service.
