Electronics recovery:

The initiative, which allows giving a second life to unused electronic devices, donated 24 devices to Fundación Soymás, a non-profit organization that trains teenage mothers in different trades.

Fundación Soymás was the beneficiary of the first donation of electronic devices in the third edition of the Reutiliza campaign (Reuse in English), promoted by Entel and Kyklos. The non-profit organization, which seeks to improve the quality of life of young pregnant women and teenage mothers, received 24 devices, including notebooks and desktop computers.

“From Fundación Soymás we are very grateful with this donation of computers made by Kyklos and Entel in its ‘Reutiliza’ program, which will allow us to have 2 computer rooms where our students can learn new tools that will help them in their personal and professional growth”, says José Miguel Musalem, Director of Employability and Entrepreneurship Fundación Soymás.

This donation is possible thanks to the Reutiliza campaign, an initiative that has been running since 2020 and consists of collecting unused electronic devices and then reconditioning them and donating them to educational institutions that need them. During its first two years, the campaign managed to deliver more than 1,400 students, which allowed them to continue attending classes in times of pandemic.

During 2022 the campaign will continue to collect electronic devices through the network of 290 schools Kyklos works with in the Metropolitan Region, which have containers to collect electronic waste.

“We are very happy with what we have achieved with our Reutiliza campaign, which has allowed us to advance in two important objectives that leverage our purpose. On the one hand, to bring the possibilities offered by technology to children and young people, helping to reduce the digital divide, and on the other hand, to contribute to the circular economy by giving a second life to devices in good condition, which would otherwise be discarded”, says Jimena del Valle, Director of Sustainability at Entel.

Hernán Hochschild, executive director of Kyklos, says that “this donation marks a new beginning for the campaign, with which we hope to have a year of great positive impacts. By 2022 we want to reach more educational institutions, not only schools and liceos, so that no one in Chile is left without the possibility of studying just because they do not have an electronic device available”.
