An important alliance was signed between the digital pharmacy Fracción and Entel to promote the project “Comunas sin Farmacia” (in English “Communes with no Farmacies”), whose objective is to reach with medicines 50 communes of the country, which do not have this kind of facility. This is part of the continuous work of the technology and telecommunications company together with partners that seek to be agents of change.
Specifically, the alliance seeks to facilitate access to medicines through mobile and digital pharmacies, in addition to pharmaceutical stores in regions. To this end, Entel will provide the network and connectivity that will allow these pharmacies to access their systems and deliver a service that will impact more than 300,000 people in 15 regions over a period of 4 years.
Specifically in Cochamó, Los Lagos region, the facility, which will start operations during April, will be located on Avenida Catedral unnumbered, next to the Plaza de Cochamó and will operate from Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. There, the 5 thousand inhabitants of the town will have access to a catalog of about 3 thousand medicines during the next few weeks, avoiding the need to travel to the regional capital.
“For the first time we have a pharmacy that will sell us the medicines we did not have and which we had to travel for hours to Puerto Montt - almost 150 kilometers - and today we can have it here, facilitating access to the people, who will be attended as it should be”, said the mayor of Cochamó, Jesús Silverio Morales.
A similar opinion was held by the founder and executive director of Fracción, Javier Vega, who pointed out that “we are very happy that we are opening the first pharmacy for the commune, a relevant, important and strategic milestone, because we want to reach the communes that were abandoned by the market. It is a commitment of Fracción with Chile, where Entel is a key part, because in each city it is illuminating us, providing connectivity to deliver a first-class service to the people of the communes, positively impacting their lives”.
The opening of this pharmacy joins those of San Pedro de Atacama, María Elena and Vichuquén, among others, which were already implemented during 2022, providing a permanent solution in places with less than 6 thousand inhabitants.
“This nationwide agreement will allow the first digital pharmacy in Chile, Fracción, to be connected and provide access to services to the neighbors of 50 isolated and rural communes. This is a concrete commitment on the part of Entel with the citizenship and its agents of change throughout the territory”, commented the director of Territory and Citizenship of Entel, Patricia Muñoz.
The inauguration of the Fracción pharmacy in Cochamó was also attended by representatives of Caleta Bay, Banco Estado, Corfo, Laboratorio Chile - Teva and Caja Los Andes.
