• During the month of the Viña del Mar Festival, the garden city will be filled with color thanks to Entel’s “Art Seagulls in Viña del Mar” project, an urban intervention that includes the installation of 15 three-meter-high seagulls at different points in the Valparaíso region.

Thanks to the Viña del Mar Festival, February is the month of music in the Fifth Region. And to celebrate this great festival, Entel, official sponsor of the event, inaugurated today a colorful urban intervention consisting of the installation of 15 seagulls, three meters high, at different points in the Garden City and Reñaca.

The project, called “Art Seagulls in Viña del Mar”, has invited artists from institutions and schools in the Fifth Region (such as the University of Playa Ancha, the Municipal School of Fine Arts in Valparaíso and the Municipal School of Fine Arts in Viña del Mar), as well as various artistic collectives from the area.

The main objective of this project is to enhance the Viña Festival, the most important event of the city and the summer, by bringing it closer to the people through art.

The seagulls have been installed in the following places in the Garden City Reñaca, sectors 1, 2, 3 and 4; San Expedito church; Entel shop in the Coraceros tower; Tierra del Fuego restaurant; Marina Arauco shopping center; Viña Centro urban space; Plaza Reñaca shopping center; and Viña del Mar metro station.

Santiago is also taking part in the event with two seagulls. One of them, painted by the renowned artist Catalina Abbott, will be on the Entel building. The second seagull, painted by visual artist Denisse Rodríguez, will be located in the Communications Plaza of the Entel Tower.

“At Entel we value local art and the different ways people express themselves. That is why we wanted to combine the most recognized icon of the Viña del Mar Festival with the passion of 15 artists who wanted to capture their experiences and emotions. This display of seagulls throughout the city reflects our motivation to bring culture and art to the entire community,” dijo Christian Radich, gerente zonal de Entel.
