Incentivizing electronic recycling practices is what Recyclápolis Foundation and Entel are looking for, which launched the “Electronic Recycling for Chile” campaign in Vallenar.
The purpose of this project is to encourage electronic recycling practices through the deployment of 70 containers, each with a capacity of 360 liters, in various areas of the city, such as schools, family health centers and iconic places in Vallenar.
“For Entel, the development of the country and the care of the environment go hand in hand, so our responsibility goes beyond our operations. That is why we want to connect Chileans with recycling and responsibility for their waste, so that future generations can live in a more sustainable country,” said Patricia Muñoz, Entel’s Director of Sustainability and Communities.
In the containers that will be delivered in this campaign, electronic waste corresponding to the following categories can be collected: cell phones and accessories (cables, chargers, headphones, etc.), ink cartridges and toners, and compact discs.
“I want to thank Entel and Recyclápolis for the nationwide promotion of these electronic recycling initiatives, something that will help us a lot as a municipality. I have no doubt that the population will benefit greatly from the arrival of these containers and that they will use them in the best possible way,” said Cristián Tapia, mayor of Vallenar.
“We are deeply pleased to implement in this thirteenth stage of the Electronic Recycling for Chile program, the donation of this new infrastructure for the recycling of electronic waste in the capital of the Huasco Province, we are confident that in Vallenar these 70 containers will be a great support for the municipality,” said Claudia Vidal, Communications Director of the Recyclápolis Foundation.
Thanks to this initiative, which so far has been carried out in the regions of Arica and Parinacota, Tarapacá, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Metropolitan, O’Higgins, Del Maule, Biobío, Araucanía, Los Ríos and Magallanes, more than 13 tons of electronic waste have already been collected and 675 containers have been deployed throughout the country.
