With the aim of improving internet access in homes, SMEs and companies in Quilpué and Villa Alemana, Entel began in 2021 the deployment of fiber optics in these communes. This is an investment of Ch$5,700 million to illuminate 75,000 homes, equivalent to 80% of the total number of homes in both communes, with this technology and ensure a greater and better fixed internet offer for citizens.
This is particularly relevant in the current health context, in which the need for quality fixed Internet access is essential for the development of various activities, such as distance learning, leisure or teleworking, among others.
“Having quality and stable internet access is fundamental today, and it became even more relevant with the pandemic, when our life moved to connectivity. In this sense, the possibilities provided by technology are and will be increasingly essential for our daily activities. That is why we decided to move forward with our fiber optic deployment project in the Valparaíso Region, specifically in Quilpué and Villa Alemana, to expand the opportunities for development and quality of life of families and entrepreneurs", said Entel’s home market manager, Daniel Ríos.
Likewise, this plan is part of a complete deployment of fiber optics that the technology and telecommunications company has carried out in the Valparaíso Region. This began in 2020 in the communes of Viña del Mar, Valparaíso, Concón and Reñaca, with an initial investment of Ch$6,700 million. In this way, 40,000 homes were connected to this network in 2020. In turn, during 2021 and 2022, the company plans to reach 8,000 more homes in other areas of the commune of Valparaíso, such as Curauma, further expanding the coverage and supply of fiber optics in the region.
This deployment plan in the Valparaíso Region is in line with Entel’s purpose of bringing the infinite possibilities offered by technology to all people. This, considering that in the area being addressed there is a high flow of interurban travel, for example from Villa Alemana to Valparaíso, which allows users to have high quality and high speed connection wherever they require it.
