• Almost a quarter of the runners who will participate this year come from regions. Valparaíso and Biobío are the two regions that will contribute the most people to the competition, after the Metropolitan Region.


The countdown began for the 12th version of the Entel Maratón de Santiago, which will have the participation of 30,000 runners, who as in all its previous editions, will congregate this April 8 in the Alameda, in front of La Moneda, to enjoy the biggest running party in the country.


In this celebration, the regions will also be protagonists, contributing 6,469 participants, 21.5% of the total.

“Those who have experienced the adrenaline of being at the start, know the carnival of emotions that the eMDS means, it is the instance that makes sport a party. We are proud of the interest in participating, especially from foreigners, which means that we are doing things right. And for those who will not be competing, we invite you to get out of the car on April 8, go out and cheer on the runners and enjoy the various entertainment points that will be set up along the route, which will be announced in due course” commented Francisca Aguirre, executive director of the Entel Maratón de Santiago.


This year, the regions of Valparaíso and Biobío will contribute the most runners to the race, with 1,564 and 1,183, respectively. From abroad, 4,502 athletes will arrive.

Biobío: 1.183 people.

La Araucanía: 424 people.

Los Ríos: 139 people.

Los Lagos: 420 people.
