For 15 minutes, Santiago will light up with the traditional fireworks show, marking the beginning of the new year in the capital.

Sixteen tons of fireworks will be launched, which will reach more than 350 meters high.

It is estimated that close to 400 thousand people will attend the celebration, which has been held for more than a quarter of a century.

The 2019 New Year’s celebration at the Entel Tower is ready to go. It is expected that around 400 thousand people will arrive this December 31 to witness the most emblematic fireworks show and the only one in height in the Metropolitan Region, which celebrates its 27th anniversary.

Starting at midnight and for 15 minutes, 16 thousand fireworks will be launched, reaching a height of almost 400 meters, which will allow the show to be seen from different parts of Santiago.

All those who come to the New Year’s Eve party at the Entel Tower, Santiago’s party, will be able to enjoy, from 10:30 pm, an entertaining show through a giant screen, located in the place and most importantly, live the most unforgettable moment of the night, when the fireworks show starts at zero hours, to welcome 2019.

[

“We want to make 3 calls to the people who will arrive to this place: first, safety must be the protagonist of this party, therefore the message is to be self-careful both by attending only parties authorized by the Intendancy and also not to drive if alcohol was consumed; to prefer public transport, metro and Transantiago, which we will reinforce so that they can move around the city and as a third point to the family to take their garbage after the celebration, thus educating the new generations in caring for the environment” said the mayor of the Metropolitan Region, Karla Rubilar.

[

Meanwhile, the mayor of Santiago, Felipe Alessandri, commented: “As a municipality, our commitment is to carry out the cleaning work first thing on Tuesday 1 with the aim of keeping Santiago clean, safe and tidy, just like last year. That is why once the people who attended the celebration begin to leave, a municipal device made up of 120 people and 10 vehicles will begin to clean the entire axis Alameda, Manuel Rodriguez and its surrounding streets, so that before 9 am the sector is available to the community completely clean.”

[

“This year we will bet on intensity, with a 15-minute show with 16 tons of fireworks. We invite people who have never experienced a New Year’s Eve at the Entel Tower to come to the only high-altitude show in the Metropolitan Region to enjoy a citizen’s party with the family and start 2019 in the best way” , said Alexis Licci, Entel’s Marketing Manager.

For a safe and optimal realization of the event, there will be the support of Carabineros and a quadrant of the Alameda between Morandé and Tucapel Jiménez, from 16:00 hours on December 31, until 03:00 on January 1. That is why the recommendation to attendees is to prefer public transportation to get to the vicinity of the Entel Tower.

On Monday, December 31, Line 1 service will be available until 2:00 a.m., except for La Moneda station, which will close at 4:00 p.m. There will also be extended hours on Line 4 and 5:

Line 4: Tobalaba, Plaza Egaña, Macul, Vicente Valdes, Trinidad, Hospital Sótero del Río and Puente Alto.

Line 5: Plaza Maipú, Laguna Sur, Pudahuel, San Pablo, Quinta Normal, Plaza de Armas, Baquedano, Irarrázaval, Ñuble and Vicente Valdés.

The rest of the stations of Line 4 and 5, together with Lines 2, 4A and 6 will maintain their usual closing hours.

Metro de Santiago calls on its passengers to load their Bip! cards in advance of the event at the Entel Tower and to use the self-service machines available on Line 1, in order to avoid congestion or queues at the ticket office.

It is also recommended that families stay together at all times, especially to prevent children from getting lost. As support, there will be two stands, one located on Alameda and Ejercito (central alley) and the other on Arturo Prat and Alameda streets, where 10 thousand wristbands will be distributed to the children attending the event. The names and contact numbers of the parents can be written on them, in case a child gets lost. The stands set up to distribute the wristbands will also serve as a meeting point.

People are asked to take care of the city and after the fireworks at the Entel Tower to take their garbage with them or throw it in trash cans, in order to leave everything clean. After the show, please clear the Alameda as soon as possible, so that the cleaning work can begin promptly in order to reopen the main avenue of Santiago as soon as possible.
