The alliance, which aims to support the inclusion, development and accessibility of telecommunications for deaf people, will also have a personalized service with Chilean Sign Language (LSCH) in the commercial offices of the Entel Tower.

With the aim of bringing telecommunications closer to all Chileans and democratizing its free access, Entel and the Asociación de Sordos de Chile (ASOCH) signed this morning an agreement aimed at improving services for the deaf.

This alliance consists of the creation of special plans for the deaf, based on the specific needs of each user. Entel will also finance ten annual quotas for its employees to be trained in Chilean Sign Language at the Chilean Sign Language Academy ESILENSE-ASOCH.

The telecommunications company will also provide a personalized Chilean sign language service for its hearing impaired customers, which will be available in the commercial offices of the Entel Tower.

“This is another step towards our goal of making people’s lives more connected. On this occasion, we wanted to actively support the democratization and inclusion of telecommunications for our deaf customers, all with the aim of contributing to the development of a more just and egalitarian society by reducing the digital divide” , said Manuel Araya, Entel’s Manager of Regulation and Corporate Affairs.

For its part, ASOCH is committed to guiding and supporting Entel in all matters related to equal access opportunities for deaf people and the recognition and promotion of their rights and cultural and linguistic identity.

Likewise, ASOCH will support Entel in the development of its policy for people with hearing disabilities, taking into account the visions that ASOCH can provide due to its specialization.

“In the 21st century, only companies that are truly committed to the highest values of society, such as respect for the environment and respect for the fundamental rights of all human beings, will be leaders in their field. This is why the community of deaf people I represent is very happy about the result of this agreement, which would not have been possible without the strong commitment of Entel, to whom we are deeply grateful for their perseverance and with whom we share the vision and ambition of building a fairer and better communicated world”, commented Gustavo Vergara Navarro, president of the Chilean Association of the Deaf.

In turn, Daniel Concha, National Director of Servicio Nacional de Discapacidad, valued the initiative promoted by Entel and the Chilean Association of the Deaf, “At SENADIS we strongly believe in the alliance between civil society, private enterprise and the public sector. This agreement between Entel and ASOCH is an example in this direction and promotes the right to information that deaf people have, along with reasonable adjustments in the offer, according to their needs”, he concluded.
